Visual Essay Beating the River

Magda Castría

It explores the tension between the natural body and the social body, caught in the relentless pace of capitalist life and disconnected from nature—both around and within us. What happens when we try to bend a river’s course? How far can we push boundaries before everything overflows?

Through fluid lines and a process that embraces “mistakes,” it reflects on the rhythm of life and the need to let go: soften our focus, imagine, and create new worlds.
