Visual Essay Skin

Sofía Mateos

"Skin" is a visual exploration of dermatillomania, an anxiety disorder in which the individual voluntarily and compulsively tears off pieces of skin as an inevitable response to stressful stimuli. While the difficulties that this condition brings are not too dangerous, they are annoying and invite us to reflect on the relationship with germs, pain, nervousness and compulsive behaviors.
